Who We Are

The Illinois Community of Congo Brazzaville (ICCB) is a non‑political, secular, and nonprofit organization created to support, unite, and uplift Congolese nationals and all immigrant communities across Illinois. Rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and belonging, ICCB works to strengthen social bonds, promote cultural pride, and foster a spirit of solidarity among families navigating life in a new environment.

Guided by the values of Unity, Fraternity, and Development, we provide educational, cultural, and community‑based support that empowers individuals and reinforces moral and social well‑being. Our work includes advocacy, outreach, and programs that help newcomers understand their rights, access essential resources, and build the confidence needed to thrive. ICCB is committed to creating spaces where diversity is celebrated and every voice is valued.

Our structure reflects our dedication to transparency and collective leadership. Through the General Assembly, Executive Board, Audit Commission, and Committee of Elders, we ensure accountability, shared decision‑making, and responsible stewardship of our mission. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected community; one that honors our heritage while embracing the future with hope and determination.

We Facilitate Safe Learning Spaces

At ICCB, we believe that community grows where people feel safe to learn, share, and evolve together. — Our Mission

Our mission is to promote unity, solidarity, mutual assistance, and cultural pride among Congolese families and all people connected to our community in Illinois. We support individuals through life’s challenges, illness, loss, employment difficulties, family milestones, and personal transitions; while fostering moral values such as integrity, empathy, and respect. We provide the same support to all people who need help, without discrimination, ensuring that everyone has access to care, dignity, and community. Through social, cultural, and educational initiatives, we aim to strengthen cohesion and ensure that no one walks alone.

— Our Story

ICCB was born from a simple but powerful truth: we are stronger together. As Congolese families settled in Illinois, they recognized the need for a structured, supportive, and culturally grounded community. Motivated by the desire to preserve identity, strengthen social ties, and provide mutual assistance, they created an apolitical, secular, nonprofit association dedicated to serving and uplifting people across the state. Over time, ICCB has grown into a dynamic organization with clear governance, strong leadership, and a deep commitment to solidarity. Our story continues to unfold through every gathering, every act of support, and every moment of unity shared within our community.
